Representative Assembly

Role of the AOTA Representative- Jane Erickson

Jane Erickson, OTR/L, was elected as the AOTA representative for Maine for the term from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019. She has practiced in Maine as an occupational therapist since 2002 primarily in the SNF and home care settings in the Lewiston/Auburn area.  Jane was a member of the MeOTA conference committee for 10 years.  Though not a voting of the MeOTA board, Jane does attend board meetings regularly for insight into what Maine OT practitioners are thinking.

April, 2018 Update:

Dear AOTA Members of Maine:

The Representative Assembly, the professional standards and policy setting body of AOTA,
conducted an on-line business meeting during the week of March 24, 2018. The spring meeting
is held in person at the national convention when there is enough business to be addressed.
This spring there was only one motion- to approve a position paper on Occupational Therapy’s
role in Case Management. This document has been in the works for a year or more, and it did
pass by a large majority. You can always check in on the work of the RA by going to,
choose ‘About AOTA’ in the upper right, then ‘Volunteer Leadership’ and then ‘Representative
Assembly’. We also initiated a design brief to address where we want the RA to go, the
outcomes we would like to see. This is a work in progress and is quite exciting as it gives us a
way to work on more real change.

As your AOTA representative, I invite you to become engaged in the work of the Assembly by
working with me to propose professional standards or policy motions within the purview of the
RA. Motions submitted now and through September will be considered for the fall meeting.
***PLEASE consider becoming a member of the RA in an upcoming election. The next election
for the Maine rep position will be in January 2019. Nominations will be accepted starting in
August and into October. You can contact me with any questions regarding eligibility or the
work we do at You can also find more information on this position by
clicking on “COOL” from the Volunteer Leadership page***

It is my pleasure to serve as your AOTA representative. I am happy to assist you in answering
any questions you might have about how we can work together to support the profession.

Jane Erickson, OTR/L
